Kronberg Academy

The Kronberg Academy is a household name in the international music world, whether it be in connection with the Kronberg Academy Festival, master classes in violin and cello, concerts, or the chamber music festival Chamber Music Connects the World.

Cellists Mischa Maisky, Pablo Casals, Mstislaw “Slava” Rostropowitsc as well the internationally sought-after violinist Gidon Kremer and many more have already made guest appearances in the Taunus town. From 1997 until his death in 2007, Rostropovich was artistic advisor to the Kronberg Academy and the Cello Foundation (named after him) for the promotion of young artists. Both he and Pablo Casals have memorials dedicated to their memory in the “world capital of the cello”. During his lifetime, “Slava” himself gave master classes in Kronberg.

In the third decade after its foundation, the Kronberg Academy is building the Casals Forum, which will be inaugurated during a festival from September 24 – October 3, 2022. The non-profit Kronberg Academy Foundation was established in 2004 by music lovers to support the goals of Kronberg Academy, which was founded in 1993 as a non-profit association. The Academy offers degree courses for outstanding young violinists, violists, and cellists.
